“We didn’t reinvent the circus, we repackaged it in a much more modern way,” says Guy Laliberte, co-founder of the Cirque du Soleil.
Ole Lynggaard, the world-renowned Danish jewellery house, chose a similar approach for its Magic Circus Collection 2016 with a modern interpretation of the spirit of the old-fashioned travelling circus. Fine jewellery designer Charlotte Lynggaard took the magical brand performance a step further with a poetic act in precious metal and precious stones. “This Magic Circus Collection is a tribute to the 1920s-1930s circus spirit. I wanted to create timeless styles that relate to the vibrant, joyful spirit of our brand campaign,” she says.
The Magic Circus colliers and bracelets are designed in a delicate 18 karat gold chain with cheerful, immaculate gemstones – red and rose coral, rutile quartz, amber, serpentine, turquoise and grey moonstone – perfectly matching the vintage colours of the Circus palette. Tiny diamond stars twinkle alongside exquisite cultured pearls.
The colliers are designed as special brand campaign editions and are therefore only available throughout 2016. The bracelets are created in an even lighter and more feminine design than the colliers, making them ideal for wearing more than one bracelet at a time.
“I love statement jewellery, but I also adore delicate designs as a contrast of lightness to heavier pieces. I wanted to create a bracelet conveying a very petite expression. And the Magic Circus bracelet does indeed make a statement – just in a subtle, sophisticated way,” Charlotte Lynggaard explains.
