Italian fashion designer Antonio Grimaldi showcased his new couture collection Fall/Winter 2017/18 at the Mona Bismarck American Center in Paris on 3 July 2017. It was his second couture show in Paris. Grimaldi had been invited in 2016 by Givenchy’s ex creative director Riccardo Tisci. Actress Anna Galiena, Amanda Lear, princess Antonella d’Orleans Bourbon and Giada Magliano, Italian ambassadress in Paris, attended the Antonio Grimaldi Haute Couture 2017-18 show.
In an interview with Il Messaggero, Antonio Grimaldi said: «This couture collection is rich in embroidery, decoration and cuts. I got my inspiration from Mona von Bismarck (1897-1983), an heiress and collectionist of haute couture gowns. She was a style icon and one of the most elegant women in the world. She lived in Paris and Capri where she had bought Il Fortino. When Balenciaga died, Mona von Bismarck mourned him for for days, staying at home and saying that she didn’t know what to wear anymore. Later she replaced Balenciaga by Givenchy.»
