Krikor Jabotian is one of VERTIGO’s favourite young haute couture designers. After graduating from the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode (ESMOD) in Beirut, Lebanon, he started his career within the creative department of Elie Saab.
At the age of 23, Krikor set up his first studio and designed his very first collection. The company quickly evolved into a thriving, family-run business alongside his father, mother and sister.
In an interview with Style.com Arabia, Krikor described his style and bridal collections as follows: “I love classicism. I like to stick to traditional, classic looks but then give them a very modern interpretation. A bride wearing my creation looks classical but there is some kind of statement there.”
KRIKOR JABOTIAN SPRING SUMMER 2017
Specially created for Vogue Italia as part of AltaRoma, Reincarnation revisits six looks from the Krikor Jabotian archive, reviving some of our bespoke structures and embroideries, with a modern and wild twist. Through embroidering on tulle – the key element of our embroideries and embellishments – the looks showcase our signature style and overshadow the use of common fabrics. The dresses are shot against a hand-painted backdrop, inspired by the work of Gustave Courbet. The shoot mixes the usual romantic mood of our dress designs, with a wild feeling that comes through the jungle background, complemented by the exquisite jewelry of Andre Marcha.
