French fashion label Zadig&Voltaire is to launch a capsule collection by US tattoo artist Virginia Elwood to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary. Virginia presented a graphic encounter between her American folk universe and the French olfactory duo. Since 2001, this platinum blonde has been practising all forms of her craft at her studio in Brooklyn, New York: linocuts, sculptures, painting on porcelain etc. “When I was a kid, I wanted to become either an artist, fireman, scientist or ballet dancer,” she said in a video interview with Toca Boca. “I live in New York City, where it’s quite impossible for an artist not to be inspired. From my apartment, I have a great view of the city, which is inspiring. On a more personal level, I get inspired visually by a lot of textile designs and old folk art.” The first capsule collection of tattoo artist Elwood for Zadig&Voltaire is to be launched in February 2018.
TATTOO ARTIST ELWOOD FOR ZADIG&VOLTAIRE
One year after being released, it’s the same fragrances with a completely new look. The tattoo artist brings a fun angle to two unique stories through embossed designs on the outside of bottles and packaging. Black and white, stitched with Zadig symbols. The fragrance This is Her (50ml, CHF 94.50) is a floral bouquet of Arabian jasmine brightened with pink peppercorn. A sweet with a rock spirit made of chestnut and vanilla. Her femininity is reaffirmed with an intense, woody and milky base note: sandalwood, the Zadig&Voltaire signature. The woody oriental fragrance This is Him (50ml, CHF 75.60) has been created for a gentleman rocker with a leather-hard spirit. This urban wanderer reinforces his confidence with a spicy incense of grapefruit and black pepper. Virility with a soft heart – half vanilla, half incense. A free spirit with a wild instinct.
