MESSIKA PARIS HAUTE COUTURE WEEK 2017-18

On the occasion of Paris Haute Couture Week in July 2017, Valérie Messika presented the second wave of her «Paris est une Fête» high jewelry collection. Inspired by the creative vibrancy of Paris in the 1920s, the high jewelry designer unveiled liberated and contemporary high jewelry pieces. Asked about her inspiration for her new high jewelry creations, Valérie Messika said: «Ten years was all it took to disrupt and revolutionize women’s place in society from 1919 to 1929. These years of excess turned Paris into the world capital of creation. Dance, painting and haute couture.»

CHOCKER ZELDA

Valérie Messika has created a choker necklace following the curvatures of the neck. Who better than Zelda, the wife of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald and the ultimate flapper, to inspire this dazzling creation? With its graphic design and pure lines, this diamond masterpiece echoes art deco style. The result is impressively modern: the emerald-cut diamonds are alternated vertically and horizontally, interspersed with iridescent brilliantcut barrettes. The central 3.81 ct emerald-cut diamond appears to float as if by magic. Made entirely at Maison Messika’s high jewelry atelier in Paris, this choker required 150 hours of work by master jewelers and setters. (473 diamonds with a total weight of 40.29ct)

THE MAN RAY NECKLACE

Man Ray was not only one of the most important visual artists of the 1920s, but also a great lover of women. He immortalized his muses and icons of the period such as Kiki de Montparnasse with a touch of surrealism.

This necklace in the Silk jewelry series is characterized by its incredible amassing of marquise-cut diamonds. Set on a flexible gold mesh, the sweeping diamonds are transformed into a radiant tie in a perfectly layered arrangement. This unique piece is transformable and can be worn in several ways: as a tie or as a choker, enhanced by a delicate 1 ct pear-cut diamond. (Gold weight: 55g / 784 diamonds with a total weight of 31.94ct)
