Retrouvé is a new prestigious unisex skincare collection launched by Jami Morse Heidegger and her husband Klaus Heidegger in 2013 in Paris. Kiehl’s heiress Jami Morse Heidegger, who sold the family business to L’Oréal in 2000, is a beauty expert and visionary. “Retrouvé is my personal skincare vision of using only supremely exclusive and efficacious select anti-aging ingredients in superior concentrations and set in luxurious textures, that I was unable to find elsewhere,” says Jami in an exclusive interview with VERTIGO.
RETROUVE: INTERVIEW WITH JAMI MORSE
What inspired you to create Retrouvé?
Once Klaus and I sold Kiehl’s, I continued to create formulations with my chemist, solely for my own personal use, that I was unable to find in the marketplace. We worked continually to refine the formulations as new ingredients and technologies became available. Although I had never intended to do so, Klaus persuaded me to make the products available for retail sale due to the positive feedback that we had received from friends and family who were sampling the formulations.
Because the products were initially for my personal use only, no compromise was made in the cost, quality, or research behind the ingredients or processes used to develop the formulae. Retrouvé is my personal skincare vision of using only supremely exclusive and efficacious select anti-aging ingredients in superior concentrations and set in luxurious textures, that I was unable to find elsewhere.
Did you already have in mind to create a high-tech luxury skincare collection when you worked for Kiehl’s?
I have always been interested in the idea of creating a more high-powered product: At Kiehl’s, I often requested my chemist to make more potent versions of my favorite products just for my own use. When I turned 40, my interest in utilizing the most concentrated ingredients and innovative technologies available intensified. Whereas at Kiehl’s, I had to stay within already long-established parameters to fit the brand profile when creating products, with Retrouvé, I have the freedom to create as I please.
