Sisley Paris invited me to attend the launch press event of Eau Tropicale and to have lunch with Isabelle d’Ornano at her magnificent apartment at Quai d’Orsay in Paris. It was a great honour to meet this elegant and dynamic lady who launched Sisley, a luxury beauty brand specialised in phytocosmetology, in 1976 with her husband Hubert d’Ornano.
I attended the launch event with a few other journalists from Vogue Germany, InStyle, Elle and Gala. The French homemade lunch was delicious, especially the spiced lentils with eggs and the pear soufflé. The amazing apartment of the d’Ornano family is richly decorated like a museum – the perfect location for a Hollywood movie. (We published some pictures of the magnificent apartment in VERTIGO’s Summer Issue 2014.)
Talking and listening to Isabelle d’Ornano was fascinating. She’s a truly inspiring woman. She told us the story behind Eau Tropicale, Sisley’s new fragrance. We also talked about haute couture, one of her favourite designers being Jean-Paul Gaultier. She also wanted to know how women in Germany cope with work and family balance. Isabelle d’Ornano has been collecting art for decades with her husband Hubert d’Ornano. They are also art sponsors. Their love of art is also reflected in the box of Eau Tropicale, beautifully designed by a Polish painter who is a dear friend of the countess.
