The love story of a Russian ballerina and a Spanish matador inspired Russian haute couture designer Yanina to create a collection that combines the sumptuousness of the matador’s suit of lights (traje de luces) and the lightness and romanticism of Russian ballet.
The splendor of the matador’s costume runs through the whole collection. Short bolero jackets abundantly embroidered with laces, gems and silk appliques reflect the art of couture. On some dresses, the matador’s costume has been embroidered with fine lines of laces, bugle beads and sequins. The bright boleros embroidered with flowers reflect the joy of a Spanish summer.
The collection’s bright chiffon dresses recall the bright southern sun, flower fields, red poppies and flamenco dancers amazing their spectators with their movements, the layers and flounces of their skirts. You see beautiful Spanish girls wearing the traditional mantillas or young divas enveloped in richly embroidered silk shawls. You see exciting movements of fringes on lively and dynamic dresses and the cheerfulness of a national Spanish costume.
Some dresses seem to be made of air and are as light as clouds. They recall a mysterious Russian heroine for whom ballet is the same as poetry.
