Whether it’s their artfully undone hairstyle, their slim figure or their natural make-up – when it comes to beauty, French girls simply have that undefinable je ne sais quoi.
But what makes Parisian women so effortlessly chic? Is it their love for beauty, fashion and culture? After all, France is the most famous country for fashion and cosmetics. But beauty products are not limited to luxury brands like Chanel, Dior and Guerlain. French pharmacy cosmetics have become so popular among Asian tourists in France that some pharmacies had to limit the amount of products per person.
In France, 40 percent of skincare is sold in pharmacies. “Pharmacies are the most visited sales points in France – up to 1000 people a day,” says Anne Guichard, general director of L’Oréal’s Pharmacy Division. The sound price/performance ratio is also an important criteria: “At the phamacy, I don’t buy a dream but effective products which have been chosen by pharmacists,” says Guichard.
VERY ROSE: NEW MAKE-UP REMOVERS AND CLEANSERS BY NUXE
One of my favourite French cosmetics brand is Nuxe. Their products are sold in pharmacies, perfumeries and department stores in France and abroad. Huile Prodigieuse, Nuxe’s bestseller, has been my favourite body oil for years. This spring, Nuxe is launching Very Rose, a new cleanser collection featuring seven products.
Their vegan formulas combine the soothing properties of rose floral water with a skin-respect complex containing 100% botanical origin moisturising sugars. As a beauty editor, I’m aware of the importance of the Japanese or South Korean double or even triple cleansing. I’ve applied it for years and it has become part of my beauty routine, especially in the evening when I get back from work. Therefore, I was really looking forward to testing the new Very Rose collection by Nuxe. From an aesthetic point of view, the pink bottles and the pink liquids are simply amazing. They are so beautiful that I put them on my bedside table next to my pink roses bouquet. The products are excellent and definitely the best French drugstore cleansers 2020.
MY FOUR FAVOURITE PRODUCTS OF THE VERY ROSE COLLECTION
In the evening, I start my beauty routine with the Delicate Cleansing Oil, which contains sweet almond oil and rose oil extract. It removes impurities and make-up, even waterproof products. After rinsing it with water, it leaves no oily or sticky film. (150 ml, CHF 21.80)
I always double cleanse my skin in the evening. Therefore, I continue with the Light Cleansing Foam, which I also use in the morning. This amazing rich and ultra-creamy foam removes impurities without drying the skin. I’m really over the moon with this cleanser, because it cleanses my skin extremely well without irritating it. This is really the best foaming cleanser I’ve tested in the last 12 months! And the good thing is: it’s not expensive at all. (150 ml pump-bottle, CHF 17.80)
Three times a week, I use the Ultra-Fresh Cleansing Gel-Mask after the double cleansing. I apply the melting translucent gel, which looks so yummy, to the face and leave it on for one minute. Then I massage it to effectively remove impurities before rinsing. Result: the skin is deeply cleansed and freed from pollution particles. (150 ml, CHF 26.45)
Last but not least: The Radiance Peeling Lotion. I apply this innovative product every evening for a gentle and progressive new skin effect. It reminds me of the BHA lotions by Paula’s Choice, which I love. Enriched with salicylic acid and 4 fruit acids, day after day, the Nuxe lotion softly removes the outer layers of the epidermis for skin that appears renewed. This daily exfoliation refines the skin’s texture. (150 ml, CHF 30)
AMAZING TEXTURES AND FRAGRANCE
The Very Rose Collection by Nuxe also features three other make-up removers: The 3-in-1 Soothing Micellar Water (100 ml, CHF 12) removes make-up and cleanses the face and eyes in a single step. Its soothing action perfectly respects skin’s natural balance. The Creamy Make-up Remover Milk (200 ml, CHF 16.90) has a “milk in oil” texture that removes make-up very gently, with no oily finish. The Refreshing Toning Mist (200 ml, CHF 16.90) can be used in the morning as the first step in the beauty to awaken the skin with a refreshing veil.
