Greek mythology meets couture. For Atlantis, his couture spring/summer 2020 collection, Ziad Nakad imagined a modern day warrior princess who rules Atlantis. The founders of the lost island subcontinent were half god and half human. They created a utopian civilization and became a great naval power. The lush islands contained gold and silver and supported an abundance of rare, exotic wildlife.
Atlantis, the lost island subcontinent often idealized as an advanced, utopian society holding wisdom that could bring world peace, has captivated dreamers, occultists and New Agers for generations.
The celebration of fierceness, softness, determination, ingenuity and compassion that characterize the modern day warrior princess is electric and eclectic: tulle, silk and taffeta mixed with organza and chiffon emphasize the mermaid silhouettes. Crystals, beads, feathers, all handmade details, are underlining all shades of blue, water green, sun yellow, peach and gold.
