The 16th century was the epitome of the Renaissance in Europe. In France, a young king, François I, ordered the construction of the Château of Chambord, the largest castle in the Loire valley. The king was proud to show the remarkable architectural achievement to sovereigns and ambassadors as a symbol of his power engraved in stone. The plan of the castle and its decors stem from a central axis, the renowned double helix staircase, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, an ascending spiral leading to a profusion of chimneys and sculpted capitals on the terraces.
Passionate about architecture, young Lebanese couturier Ziad Nakad was inspired by the famous open double spiral staircase of the Château de Chambord for his Fall/Winter 2021/2022 couture collection Renaissance. A collection tinted with pastel colors, hand-embroidered in the designer’s atelier in Beirut.
Like previous columns, the architectural fitted dresses, compete with the lightness of the impeccable pleats. The couture collection features sophisticated and airy fluid dresses, in shimmering colors: purple, yellow, blue, a tribute to the historic tapestries and paintings of the castle.
The majestic, hand-embroidered wedding dress closes this dream collection by Ziad Nakad.
