Do you love exclusive spas, aromatherapy treatments, massages, holistic wellness and luxury beauty treatments? In that case, I highly recommend the Spa of th 5-star hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne, an oasis of relaxation and positive vibrations that will help you to find your inner balance and serenity for a few hours.
I had the opportunity to test the new Spa on 12 May 2016. Jocelyn Pedersen, the Spa Manager who previously had been very successful as a Spa Director of the Alpina Gstaad Six Senses Spa, welcomed me and showed me around. Ms. Pedersen is a very warmhearted person, an experienced therapist and a spa manager who believes in her team and the beneficial experience they can offer to their clients.
While I was drinking the delicious Jax Coconut Water, a healthy drink with which you can mix healthy cocktails or overcome a hangover or sickness, Ms. Pedersen introduced me to the philosophy of the Spa which offers mainly European spa treatments and products, whereas the other luxury spas in Lausanne are mainly Asian therapies spas.
For guests who visit the Spa for the first time, the Spa Manager recommends the Royal Discovery (3.5 hours, CHF 340): start with a one-hour pool and thermal circuit at your leisure, then enjoy a 2.5 hours custom designed hydro therapy experience including scrubs, wrap and a massage.
Pregnant women can enjoy Glam Mom (Les Soins pour Maman), 6 treatments of 60 minutes each (before and after the pregnancy, CHF 950 for the package).
Couples can book the Spa Suite (Spa Privé) for 3 hours and enjoy two treatments of 50 minutes each (CHF 670). The private spa can also be booked for events for 10 to 20 people for an unforgettable communal experience (e. g. birthday parties, hen nights; you can contact the Spa for more information and the price list for private events).
Families can book the Mini Me & Me (Spa en Famille) (mother and daughter / father and son): 50 minutes which include two treatments of 25 minutes each (CHF 340). Children must be at least six years old.
SPA ROYAL SAVOY LAUSANNE
Spanning 1500 sqm, the new spa features an indoor and outdoor pool, vitality pools, hammam, sauna, steam rooms, a Ladies only Spa, two relaxation rooms, eight treatment rooms, a private Spa area, fitness centre, hair studio and a Spa boutique. Guests who book an appointment for the wet area will receive a card upon their arrival with a detailed explanation of the spa circuit. The spa has two corridors, one leads to the treatment rooms, the other to the wet area. In the relaxation area, guests can relax on waterbeds. They can also take drinks from the minibar or the samowar.
A personal trainer will assist clients in the fitness centre which is equipped with the latest equipment. In summer, the spa will most probably offer an outdoor training (e. g. jogging around the lake).
Le Spa du Royal has a great range of wellness offers that will make the visitors relax for an hour or a whole afternoon. The 3-hour Spa Experience (CHF 80) gives access to the main facilities in order to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. You can also book massages (e. g. a 50-minute signature massage for CHF 170 or a 80-minute hot stone massage for CHF 225). If you love holistic wellness, you might opt for Reiki (50 minutes, CHF 150), a Sound Therapy (50 minutes, CHF 180), Shiatsu (50 minutes, CHF 180), a traditional Thai Massage (50 minutes, CHF 180) or Rolfing (75 minutes, CHF 190).
If you’re looking for a special signature treatment, you might opt for the Vichy Shower. It features six adjustable jets (chakra points), a savonage, a shower head with micro massage, a steam bath with essential oils, a wet table with a heated water mattress, infra red cell renewal and oxgenation, and chromotherapy (coloured lights).
The Spa also offers grooming essentials lik waxing, manicure, pedicure and spray tan (30 minutes, CHF 60).
(Above) Even though the spa is located in the city of Lausanne, I didn’t have the impression that it was an urban spa. The terrace reminded me more of a beach or an exotic place surrounded by a tropical garden.
MY FAVOURITE BODY TREATMENT AT THE SPA DU ROYAL
Le Spa du Royal also offers a wide range of treatments in collaboration with its partners La Clinic Lémanic, La Vallée, Biologique Recherche and Aromatheraphy Associates. During my stay at the hotel, I opted for a treatment by Biologique Recherche: 3 in One – Slimming Oxygenating Detox (50 minutes, CHF 175). It’s the ultimate body treatment which combines an energising exfoliation, a wrap with detoxifying marine ingredients and a modelling massage (similar to a drainage). I felt very relaxed and my legs were extremely light. It’s one of the best body treatments I’ve ever had and my therapist was very kind and professional (great massage technique).
