Marco Mengoni was born on 25 December 1988 in Ronciglione (Lazio, Italy). He grew up as an only child.
At the age of 14, he enrolled in a singing course where he became part of a quintet that also performed in piano bars. Two years later, he started his solo career as a singer and songwriter. In 2013, he moved to Milan, the most important city for aspiring singers in Italy.
In December 2009, at the age of 21, he won the talent show X Factor Italy and signed with Sony Music. The same month, he released his first single Dove si vola.
In February 2010, he placed third at the Sanremo Festival with Credimi ancora, a song that he included in his second album Re matto.
In 2013, Marco Mengoni won the Sanremo Festival for the first time with his song L’essenziale and qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest in Amsterdam, where he placed seventh.
To date, the 34-year-old singer has released 6 studio albums, 4 live albums, 33 music videos and 38 singles.
Marco Mengoni is not married and he doesn’t have any children.
