ESTAS TONNE AND THE GOLDEN DRAGON

Estas Tonne defines himself as a modern-day troubadour and a spiritual guitarist. He grew up in Zaporizhzhia, a former Soviet city which has become a war zone and a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.

A Youtube video of Estas Tonne’s street performance of The Song of the Golden Dragon reached 100 million views. The song is inspired by Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent, one of the major deities of the ancient Mexican pantheon. He was also the symbol of death and resurrection. While visiting The Temple of the Inscriptions in Palenque, the Mayan jungle city in Chiapas, a Mexican named Oscar said to Estas: “It could be a dragon indeed, a golden one, just like the sun.” Therefore, The Song of the Golden Dragon can be interpreted in different ways, just like the Mayan or the Aztec culture.

Beyond, Estas Tonne’s latest guitar solo track, is the theme song for I Am Music, a feature film by Tal Cohen-Litant, a New York-based film-maker who was awarded Best Director at the Ferrara Film Festival in 2020 for his short film 7PM. The film on Estas Tonne will be executive produced and edited by Luca Ammendola, a Swiss-Italian film-maker who won the Unicef Award at the Ferrara Film Festival in 2020 for Dear Child. In an interview with VERTIGO Magazine, Ammendola said: “Estas is a nobleman from another era who has lived 1000 lives.”
