Anatomy of a Wing was the first couture show I attended during Paris Haute Couture Week 2019. What a magnificent collection inspired by the delicate dragonfly. They are said to be spiritual creatures connected to light and change.
“I like the fact that they’re alone, they stand out in their creative flow,” said Lebanese couturier Tony Ward when asked why the dragonfly was the main inspiration for this Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019 collection.
It’s the anatomy of this fascinating and mysterious species that created the pieces. It’s the skeleton of their wings that drew the lines of the collection, whether in the geometric shapes, in the embroideries’ details or on actual standing out wings and beautifully crafted Yana Markova headpieces.
