14 FACTS ABOUT MONEY HEIST SEASON 4

Money Heist is Netflix’s biggest success outside of the United States.

Money Heist Season 4 will premier internationally on Netflix on 3 April 2020.

Part 4 begins in chaos: the Professor thinks that Lisbon has been executed, Rio and Tokyo have blown up an army tank and Nairobi is struggling between life and death. The gang is going through one of its toughest moments and the rise of an enemy among its ranks will put the heist in serious danger.

WILL LISBOA BETRAY THE PROFESSOR IN ORDER TO SEE HER DAUGHTER AGAIN?

The cast for the new season has been confirmed in the new teaser trailer for the show. It shows Tokyo (played by Úrsula Corberó), Professor (Álvaro Morte), Helsinki (Darko Peric), Rio (Miguel Herrán), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Palermo (Rodrigo De la Serna), Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian) and Marsella (Luka Peros).

There are also some surprises in the line-up: Berlin (Pedro Alonso), who lived in an Italian monastery in Money Heist 3, makes an appearance in the trailer. In episode 1 of Money Heist 4, there’s a flashback of Berlin’s wedding in Tuscany. Later on, there are flashbacks of Berlin, Palermo and the Professor who prepared the heist of the Bank of Spain.

Lisboa (Itziar Ituño) has not been executed. She has been taken hostage by the special forces. Inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) continues to be in charge of the investigations. She puts ex-inspector Raquel Murillo, who became Lisboa when she joined the gang, under pressure. In episode 1 of Money Heist 4, Lisboa says that she’s aware of the fact that even if she collaborates with the police, she’ll be sentenced to 30 years in prison. Inspector Sierra offers her a prison sentence of only five years if she betrays the Professor and the gang and reveals their plan. “Otherwise, you will get out of prison when you’re daughter is 40 and when the grave of your mother won’t exist anymore,” Sierra says.

IS NAIROBI DEAD OR ALIVE?

In the last episode of Season 3, Nairobi was shot when she was standing at the window in the Bank of Spain.

Millions of fans around the world have asked themselves: Did Nairobi die? Answer (spoiler): No, she didn’t. She survived.

In the second trailer released by Netflix, Nairobi wears an oxygen mask which covers her nose and her mouth. She has to be operated on, because she’s been wounded. The operation is risky, because the bullet is in her back near one of the lungs.

“HE’S AN ASSASSIN,” SAYS THE PROFESSOR

(Above) Helsinki with Gandia (José Manuel Poga), the security chief of the Bank of Spain. He will play an important role in Money Heist Season 4.

The new Netflix trailer shows Gandia who says to Colonel Tamayo on the phone: “Colonel, it’s Gandia, the security chief of the Bank of Spain. I managed to break free.”

Gandia (José Manuel Poga) will play an important role in Money Heist 4, but he won’t help the gang to escape, even though he knows everything about the security system of the Bank of Spain. Gandia will be the biggest threat inside the bank. The Professor warns Tokyo and the gang: “When you face him, act decisively in self-defense but without hesitation. Because he won’t hesitate. He’s a ruthless ex-mercenary. Relentless. And he’s going to try and kill you.”

In the trailer, the Professor, who watches the gang on several screens which are connected to the cameras of the Bank of Spain, says: “All the cameras of the bank have just been disconnected. You’re on your own.”

Money Heist Season 5 will be shot this year. In the new episodes, the team will most probably attempt to escape from the bank despite being surrounded by police and special forces.

MANILA, THE TRANSGENDER OF MONEY HEIST 4

Manila (Belén Cuesta) is a new member of the heist gang who is hidden among the hostages nearly until the end of Season 4. She was born as a boy and is Moscow’s godchild Juanito. Denver grew up with him and they were like brothers. When they wait for him at a bus stop, Juanito suddenly shows up as a woman and tells them that she is now Julia and that she has always felt like a woman. Moscow and Denver accept her new identity immediately and hug her.

Manila, played by cisgender actress Belén Cuesta, has caused some controversy among fans of the series. Some viewers think that a real transgender actress would have been more appropriate.
