She soon becomes the most respected member of the gang, because she’s intelligent, attentive, respectful and pragmatic. She doesn’t lose her temper like Tokio or Berlin.

When she replaces Berlin as leader of the group, she shouts: “The matriarchy has just begun.” And she proves to be the perfect leader of a band of outsiders who occupy the Royal Mint of Spain to fight for a better future.

19 FACTS ABOUT NAIROBI FROM MONEY HEIST

Money Heist (La Casa De Papel) became the most watched non-English language series when parts 1 & 2 launched on Netflix globally in 2018. But who are the actors who contributed to this international success with their great performance? Let’s start our series with the tough and pragmatic Nairobi.

Nairobi is played by Alba Flores, a Spanish actress who was born in Madrid on 27 October 1986.

Her real name is Alba González Villa and she comes from a family of artists. Her grandmother Lola Flores was one of Spain’s most famours singers and actresses. Alba’s aunts Lolita Flores (62) and Rosario Flores (57) are two famous singers.

Her grandfather Antonio González, better known as El Pescaílla, was a flamenco singer and composer. He came from a gypsy family.

Alba’s father Antonio Flores was a singer and composer. He died on 30 May 1995 at the age of 33 of an overdose of barbiturates and alcohol.

Antonio Flores died two weeks after his mother Lola Flores. Alba Flores was only eight and a half years old.

Alba was raised by her mother Anna Villa, a theatre producer, in Madrid.

At the age of 13, she started to take acting classes.

Her acting career began in 2005 when she was cast for minor roles in El Calentito and Luna del miel en Hiroshima.

She got her first big role in 2015 in Vis à vis, a Spanish women’s prison drama that immediately makes you think of Orange Is The New Black when you watch the first episode.

In 2017, she appeared in La Casa de Papel (Money Heist). In 2018, the tv series premiered on Netflix worldwide and became the most watched non-English language series.

“Everything changed with Netflix,” says Alba. “I don’t fully perceive the success that the series is having.” In a few months, the number of her Instagram followers went from 50,000 to 3 millions.

“Actors are overrated,” says Alba in an interview with Vanity Fair Spain.

In 2020, she closed two chapters after five years of working for two series: Money Heist and Vis a vis.

In May 2020, Alba became a brand ambassador of PETA. The campaign’s slogan is “Go Veg. For Animals. For the Planet.” (Watch the video.)

WILL NAIROBI DIE IN MONEY HEIST SEASON 4?

No, Nairobi won’t die. She will survive. But she has been wounded so severely, that she needs an urgent operation. In episode 1 of Money Heist 4, Game Over, Nairobi begs her friends to surrender her to the police. “I’d rather go to prison than die here,” she says lying on the operating table. Tokyo and Helsinki respect her wish, but Denver and Palermo are against Nairobi’s decision. Denver even puts a gun at Tokyo. They insist that Nairobi stays and that she undergoes surgery inside the Bank of Spain.

WHO WILL OPERATE ON NAIROBI AND TAKE THE BULLET OUT?

Tokyo will act as a surgeon and take the bullet out of Nairobi’s back. The operation is risky, because the bullet is close to the lung, a vital organ. Tokyo will be assisted by Helsinki, Rio, Stockholm and Denver. They all have basic skills. A few months before the heist, the Professor had taught them the basics of an operation. “That day, you won’t be operating on a dead pig,” the Professor said. “But on one of you.”

For the operation, the team is assisted online by a Pakistani surgeon who supervises the operation on a monitor in Pakistan. Moreover, they are assisted by one of the hostages: the governor of the Bank of Spain who had studied medicine 30 years ago without finishing the career.

WHO WILL TRY TO KILL NAIROBI IN MONEY HEIST 4?

At the end of episode 3, Nairobi wakes up. She’s still wearing the oxygen mask. One of the hostages, a former nurse, is with her.

In the meantime, Palermo has been taken hostage by the gang, because he wanted to leave the Bank of Spain on his own. She was wearing a black suit and holding a briefcase that contained secret documents of State. He had the intention to give them to the special forces in exchange for impunity and freedom.

Palermo, who has been taken hostage, is sitting on a chair next to Gandia, the security chief of the Bank of Spain. He tells Gandia how to get rid of the handcuffs and encourages him to escape. He says that their supervisor Rio is so weakened and traumatized that he won’t shoot anyone.

Gandia gets rid of the handcuffs and Rio, whose hands are trembling, isn’t able to shoot and to prevent him from escaping. Gandia runs up the stairs and finds his way to the room in which Nairobi has just woken up. She’s alone because the nurse has just gone to the ladies’ room. Gandia takes a pillow and places it on Nairobi’s face with the intention of suffocating her.

“HE’S A KILLER,” SAYS THE PROFESSOR

In episode 4 of Money Heist 4 (Pasodoble), the professor warns the gang and says the their priority is to find Gandia: “He’s a killer,” he says.

The Professor’s brother Berlin had met Gandia a few days before the heist, when he had had an appointment with the governor of the Bank of Spain. Berlin pretended to be a prestigious bank expert and advised the director to increase the gold reserves of the Bank of Spain. When he left the bank, Berlin said to the Professor: “We have to kill Gandia. Or he will kill us.”

(Above) Rio (Miguel Herrán) is the weakest member of the gang because of his trauma. He isn’t able to shoot Gandia when he escapes.

GANDIA TAKES A MEMBER OF THE GANG AS A HOSTAGE

(Episode 5, 5 Minutes Earlier) Gandia managed to escape, but he’s still inside the Bank of Spain. He’s hiding in a secret higtech room with numerous monitors and weapons. There, he can observe the gang and the hostages. He calls the chief of the special forces unity, colonel Tamayo, who gives him the green light and tells him that he can shoot anyone in self-defense.

Gandia takes a first hostage, Tokyo. She finds herself in chains, dazed, and with a madman in front of her. Within only 15 minutes of Tokyo opening her eyes, Gandia would have already shot at most of the gang members.

WHOM DOES NAIROBI GET IN LOVE WITH IN MONEY HEIST 4?

During her bed confinement and her recovery from the operation, Nairobi falls in love with Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian, an Armenian-Spanish actor), a member of the gang. They kiss for the first time in chapter 4, a few seconds before an explosion.

(Above) Helsinki, Tokyo and Bogotá are searching for Gandia.

IS NAIROBI PREGNANT IN MONEY HEIST 4?

No, but she’s planning to have another child. In a flashback in episode 5, Nairobi asks the Professor if he would have a child with her. She wants to be a mother and have many kids. Given the fact that she admires the Professor, she says that she would like to have a child who has his qualities. At the beginning he refuses her proposal. But Nairobi insists and says that the gang is the family she’s never had. In the end, the Professor accepts with one condition: it will have to be an in vitro fertilisation after the money heist. Nairobi is overwhelmed with joy and tells Tokyo that she will soon become an aunt. Tokyo is happy for her and suggests a name for the baby: Ibiza.

WHO KILLS NAIROBI IN EPISODE 6 (TKO)?

Nairobi is taken hostage by Gandia while she’s alone in a room. He chains her to a door and makes a hole through which she has to stick her head. Gandia negotiates with the crew. They accept to let him go if he doesn’t kill Nairobi. They lower their arms, while Gandia steps out of the room holding Nairobi close to him and aiming a gun at her head. He walks backwards with his hostage. “Let her go,” says Bogotá. “I’m about to let her go, take it easy,” replies Gandia. He lets her go and she walks slowly towards the crew. All of a sudden, Gandia calls Nairobi by saying: “Mutt.” She slowly turns around and he says with contempt: “I said I was going to kill you.” He shoots her in the forehead before anyone else can react. She falls to the ground. She’s dead.
